Second certified farmers market to open
in Ottawa
OTTAWA — A new farmers market in central Ottawa will open for three weeks in August at St. Paul University on Main Street. The emphasis is on local food produced by the vendors — in this case within 160-kilometres .
There will now be four farmers markets in Ottawa: Byward and Parkdale markets with vendors who don’t sell their own produce; Ottawa Farmers’ Market at Lansdowne Park, which opened last year, allows only vendors who sell what they produce.
The newest market, organized by the Ottawa East Community Association, is a reaction to the success at Lansdowne Park.
