NAPANEE — Police are investigating a Jan. 5 attempt to buy a horse advertised on the Internet using fake money orders. A Napanee area farmer advertised the horse for sale and e-mails were exchanged. Before arranging to have the horse picked up, the farmer called the campany that appeared to have issued the money orders and discovered they were fraudulent.

The suspect has not been caught and might not even be in Canada. said OPP Sgt. Kristine Ray, of Eastern regional headquarters in Smiths Falls.
