Soybean crusher hopes for better deals with direct sales
Farmers offered as much as 10 cents extra per bushel
ELGIN — Sell your soybeans to Bunge ETGO and get a better price, says a company representative speaking at regional Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO) meetings.
The Oakville-based company, with soybean-canola crushing plants in Hamilton and Becancour, Quebec, is hoping that by approaching producers directly both parties will get a better price. Bunge ETGO also exports grain from the Port of Prescott.
Picton grain farmer Lloyd Crowe said he sold 40 tonnes to Bunge ETGO after meeting the regional representative Brad Dejong at the GFO meeting for district 13 in Elgin on Jan. 11.
Crowe said he was offered an extra 10 cents per bushel.
