The 86 wind turbines on Wolfe Island comprise the only operating project in Eastern Ontario. But there are proposals for at least 29 new wind projects that could soon dot the Eastern Ontario countryside. So far, only two projects have submitted applications with the Ministry of the Environment for renewable energy approval — a 14-turbine project in Brinston and a 9-turbine project in Prince Edward County. The other 27 projects are in various states of pre-submission preparation, which includes consultation, impact assessment, design, and construction planning. One of the proposed projects has not yet specified a location.
