SHAWVILLE — Well-known Quebec
dairy farmer Chris Judd is recovering at home after suffering a stroke
before Christmas.
As of early January, he said he
could stand although he is using a wheel chair. His left side became
paralysed and he now has only partial use of his left hand. It could take
a number of months before he recovers completely. "I don’t care if
it takes a year as long as I can get on the tractor in the spring,"
Judd said.
Judd has spent 26 years working with
Quebec farm organizations and is a Quebec Federation of Agriculture
director and regional president for the Outaouais/Laurentides Milk
Syndicate. He spoke to almost 400 farmers last February at a Douglas high
school, encouraging them to support the movement for one voice for farmers
across Ontario.
He and his 32-year-old son, Scott, built a new dairy
barn in 2003, just west of Shawville, a 40-minute drive west of Ottawa.
