Who at OMAFRA earns more than $100,000

TORONTO — There’s no recession when you’re a civil servant.

There were more people earning more than $100,000 in provincial government jobs last year than there are farms in Ontario. More than 63,000 Ontario government employees earned more than $100,000 last year. In Ontario, there are 57,000 farms.

There were 81 employees with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Rural Affairs that made the so-called sunshine list (see chart). That’s way up from 33 employees earning more than $100,00 in 2007. There were 51 OMAFRA employees on the list last year.

The list also includes 16 employees of Agricorp and 199 employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources. There were 62 MNR employees earning more than $100,000 in 2007.

The list must be made public by law and does not factor in benefits, including pensions.
