Robson and protege win at
Lindsay 4-H Show
LINDSAY — Twenty-one year old Laura Robson of
Millbrook in Peterborough County and her protégé 14-year-old
Victoria McEldon were named Supreme and Reserve Supreme Champion
Show-persons respectively at the East-Central 4-H Championship
Show at the Lindsay Fairgrounds. Robson also won the
championship last year.
McEldon, formerly of Scarborough, works for Robson’s 120-cow Simmental operation and sheep farm.
Owner and father of Laura, Dr. Neal Robson, also operates the Kawartha Veterinary Services, a large animal practice.
Robson, a fourth-year student in Animal Science at the University of Guelph, has been showing since she has been eleven.
"She showed at the neighbors before she showed at 4-H," her mother Diane said. Now she shows at all the local fairs and major Ontario shows. Her sheep are shown throughout Canada.
"She lives for it (showing)," says Diane.
Diane describes Laura and Victoria as two peas out of the same pod. Victoria often completes a task before Laura gets around to telling her.
The two young women beat out a star-studded cast, including Grand Champion Dairy Showperson, Stephanie Warner, of Peterborough. Winners from this show often win big at the Royal in Toronto.
