Eastern Ontario Farmers Forum is an independent farm newspaper started in 1992. It is dedicated to supporting the farm community in Eastern Ontario and east-central Ontario, from Toronto to the Quebec border.
Farmers Forum launched the Western Ontario edition in March, 2012, with a circulation of 20,000+ in seven counties in Western Ontario. We serve Elgin, Kent. Lambton, Middlesex, Huron, Perth, and Oxford Counties.
Farmers Forum
unearths the issues that affect farm life in this region and presents the
news in a meaningful way to local farmers.
Terry Meagher
Terry Meagher is the founding publisher of Farmers
Forum newspaper and continues to write for Farmer Forum, while working
on book projects. He is the author of The 4th R – Reasoning and is
a retired lecturer of 22-years in communications at Kemptville College. Meagher was also an
editor for the English Journal and freelance writer for the now
defunct Farm and Country newspaper. His articles have appeared in
newspapers and magazines in the United States and Canada. His first-person account of life on the front lines in the Korean War
appears in the Canadian anthology Canadian War Stories. He was on
the front lines in the trenches during the last year of the Korean War, as
a gunner and radio operator, searching for Chinese tanks at night. He appears in the History Channel documentary
In Korea with Norm Christie, which first appeared on television in
2007. Patrick
Meagher He
also worked as the news producer for CKRW AM station in
Whitehorse, Yukon, and as a researcher for CBC radio.
Meagher began his journalism career as a reporter/photographer
of the Guelph Daily Mercury and as a freelancer for The Globe
and Mail. His articles
have also appeared in Hoard’s Dairyman, The Toronto Star,
Ottawa Citizen and Kingston Whig-Standard.
Meagher is
married with three grown children, and eight grandchildren. He lives in Kemptville
with his wife, Marina, who is the real CEO of
Patrick Meagher is publisher and editor. Married
with six children, he is the author of one biography and
is the founder of The Landowner magazine.
He is the former business editor at The Bermuda Sun and
is the former Canadian editor for the Australian website Mercatornet.com.
John Madill
John Madill is a reitred researcher and former teacher specializing in oil seeds
and forages at Kemptville College. He was brought up on a dairy farm in Mississauga, the
only one remaining in the city. He has a masters degree in Agronomy. He is
also a pilot.
Paul Sullivan
A former field crop specialist with the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food, Paul Sullivan is in private practice in the the Renfrew / West
Carleton area. He was brought up on a farm near Peterborough and has a degree in crop
science from the University of Guelph.
Dr. R. Tremblay
Dr. Tremblay is a graduate of the veterinary college at the
University of Guelph, where he taught for some time. He also worked for the Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture and Food as a clinical veterinarian at Fergus, Ontario. His work
now takes him
around the world.
Maynard van der Galien
Maynard van der Galien is a beef
farmer and hay producer. He is also a columnist for The Cobden
Sun.
