Eastern Ontario Farmers Forum is an
independent farm newspaper started in 1992. It is dedicated to supporting the farm
community in Eastern Ontario, from Toronto to the Quebec border. The
Publisher of Farmers Forum is Patrick Meagher.
Farmers Forum unearths the issues that
affect farm life in this region and presents the news in a meaningful way to local
farmers. Below are some of the key writers and columnists that bring the news to Eastern
and East-Central Ontario.

Terry Meagher
Terry Meagher is the founding publisher of Farmers
Forum newspaper and continues to write for Farmer Forum, while working
on book projects. He is the author of The 4th R – Reasoning and is
a retired lecturer in communications at Kemptville College. He was also an
editor for the English Journal and freelance writer for the now
defunct Farm and Country newspaper. His articles have appeared in
newspapers and magazines in the United States and Canada.
His first-person account of life on the front lines in the Korean War
appears in the Canadian anthology Canadian War Stories. He was on
the front lines in the trenches during the last year of the Korean War, as
a gunner and radio operator. He appears in the History Channel documentary
In Korea with Norm Christie, which aired this year.
Meagher is
married with three grown children, and seven grandchildren. He lives in
Kemptville.

Patrick
Meagher
Patrick Meagher is publisher and editor. Married
with four children, he is the author of one biography and
founder of The Landowner magazine, which he sold. As a
student, he worked for one summer on a farm, which he said was
the best summer job he ever had. He actually liked haying.
He has worked at The Bermuda Sun as a business editor and
was the Canadian editor for the Australian website
Mercatornet.com. His articles
have appeared in Hoard’s Dairyman, The Globe and Mail , The
Toronto Star, Ottawa Citizen and Kingston Whig-Standard. He
also worked as a radio broadcaster for CFRW AM station in
Whitehorse, Yukon, and as a researcher for the CBC.

| Dr. L. Drevjany
Formerly a teacher and researcher at Kemptville College, he
received a Doctorate in nutrition from McGill University. He has authored several books
and is internationally recognized for his work on calf raising.

John Madill
John Madill is a researcher and former teacher specializing in oil seeds
and forages at Kemptville College. He was brought up on a dairy farm in Mississauga, the
only one remaining in the city. He has a masters degree in Agronomy.

Paul Sullivan
A former field crop specialist with the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food, Paul Sullivan is in private practice in the the Renfrew / West
Carleton area. He was brought up on a farm near Peterborough and has a degree in crop
science from the University of Guelph.

Dr. R. Tremblay
Dr. Tremblay is a graduate of the veterinary college at the
University of Guelph, where he taught for some time. He now works for the Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture and Food as a clinical veterinarian at Fergus, Ontario. His work takes him
to many farms during the year.

Maynard van der Galien
Maynard van der Galien is a beef
farmer and hay producer. He is to marry for the first time in
the summer of 2008. He is also a columnist for The Cobden
Sun. |
