Vanclief won't make Martin cabinet? Agriculture
Canada staff expect Paul Martin to replace Minister of Agriculture Lyle
Vanclief in the revised cabinet. A source at Agriculture Canada said the
civil service employees don’t expect to be taking orders from Vanclief
in the new year.
Under Vanclief’s leadership,
farmers were no longer the primary client in a department controlled by
civil servants. The consumer became the main concern, Farmers Forum
sources said. The consumer pays for the research and he who pays the piper
should call the tune, the thinking goes. Before his rise in the federal government, Vanclief
was a crop farmer in Picton, Prince Edward County. |
