For two years straight Canadian farmers have survived
drought conditions. They need help. They don’t need the paperback called Planning
for and Responding to Disasters in Canada.
Why? Here’s the entire text on recovery from drought:
"Continue to conserve water after the drought appears to have ended.
Avoid any activities that could precipitate fires. As the forest dries up,
debris falls on the forest floor. Forests are then prone to fire, even the
slightest spark." That’s it. That’s all. And to think the
Canadian Farm Business Management Council hired an Ottawa group called the
Emergency Planning and Response Consultants to get that research.
That’s where the taxpayer money is going and that’s
institutional leadership in this country at work. When it came to
responding to the drought in the west, the governnment of this country was
totally ineffective.
We have gone from a country of great nation builders to a country of
incompetent memorandum writers, who have learned to tax everything that
moves or hasn’t been dead two years.
