Angus sale averages $ 2,368

LOMBARDY — Sixty-nine head of elite Angus cattle went on the block at the Canadian Angus Highlight Sale at Bellstar Angus in Lobardy, near Smiths Falls.

The 69 heifers offered for sale brought in an average of $2,368.

George Bell, owner of Bellstar Angus, was reasonably happy with the sale, especially since 24 head went west.

The top cow, a bred heifer, sold for $5,700 and was consigned by Luc Noisuex, Abbotsford, Quebec. It was bought by Carl Hawkins, of Kemptville.  The runner-up on price, a bred heifer consigned by Bailey Acres of Port Perry, sold for $4,500.

The 60 lots grossed $141,500.
